Again it is time to begin with The Annual AIIC Award for Best Inventory Clerk.
Whathever your circumstances might have been in 2019  there are still opportunities to be seized in the new year.
Winning an award is good marketing, that is why everyone is at it. As Oscar Wilde would put it:

The AIIC petition for compulsory independent inventories starts

Dear Members/Friends,

We are really pleased to announce that after much preparation we have now started a petition calling on the Government to discuss enforcing unbiased independent inventory reporting as an essential part of the residential letting process.

Full protection should be offered to all parties within the letting process and independent inventory reporting is the only way to ensure that no bias reports are used. This will also enable the Government’s Tenancy Deposit Scheme to have sufficient impartial evidence to enable them to adequately adjudicate should there be a dispute. We have seen more and more evidence of tenants being made to sign bias reports in return for their keys, mostly unaware that the inventory report is compiled by a landlord, agent or source that is not third party or unbiased.

This must now be stopped.

Please help us by sharing the petition via the below link to as many people as possible.

Please help us to make tenancies safer for all parties:
“Make independent inventory reporting of privately rented properties compulsory”

Click this link to see our petition and start sharing it:

Petition: Make independent inventory reporting of privately rented properties compulsory
petition.parliament.uk
Independent inventory reporting of privately rented properties on an AST should be a mandatory requirement. Independent inventories offer protection and help to reduce the number of deposit disputes. Please support this petition and help us make the letting process more transparent for all.

New Central Office and Changes

Good Evening,

As you are aware myself, Danny Zane and Emma Glencross have been on the board serving the roles as complaints officers for some years.

This year we accepted the role as joint vice chairs.

Since the AGM we met for our board meeting and discussed moving forward and the future and where we need to be.

Pat and Helen have decided to stand down from their positions on the committee and in the interim we are both serving us joint chairs of our organisation.

We are sending out a letter early next week to all of us at The AIIC.

We look forward to the future and providing solutions to the issues that have been mentioned, experienced as well as some super changes and new strengths to lobby for us, create a larger social media and press presence and make us even more efficient.

We have spent this week working around the clock to pick up the current systems for membership, admin and compliance.

We will be looking to fill other positions within the council very shortly so if any of our full members would be interested please do feel free to email us at central office.

A huge thanks to Pat & Helen for bringing us to this point and making us who we are today.

We really appreciate all your support during this transition period.

Best Wishes,

Danny Zane & Emma Glencross
